Planets don’t make you do things

I’ll have to start with a quote for this one.

Astrology does not have the answers, LIFE has the answers. ASTROLOGY guides us to these answers in life. —Noel Tyl

I don’t want to burst your bubble (unless of course it’s wrapped in bubble wrap, and then I find it strangely satisfying), but planets don’t actually MAKE you do anything.

The first sunny spring day after a long winter doesn’t MAKE you do anything, but it does lead to a subtle shift in your mood. It’s up to you to do something with that shift.

For a long time, astrology has been marketed as a fatalistic practice with all of the answers to your problems. Terrifying warnings that bad shit is gonna happen. Promises that you will meet the partner of your dreams on the 1st of April at a café with red umbrellas.

Well those days are over people!! Actually they’re not, you’ll still find that type of astrology out there if you want it. You just won’t get it from me.

Astrology gives us a compass to navigate the subtle influence of energies around us. Whether those energies are caused by the planets or whether the planets are just signals directing us down the right road, I’m not really sure. What I am sure of is that using the planets to help navigate life, works over and over and over again.

When Neptune moved across my Ascendant I could feel a shift and it was downright scary. I felt as if my identity as I knew it was being wiped out. It was pretty extreme for me and there were mornings during that time when I didn’t recognise myself in the mirror.

Had I not known that I was experiencing a Neptune transit I would have (a) been frightened of losing my mind and (b) not known that it was an opportunity to reflect and redefine myself. I’ll talk more about that another time.

Whichever way you look at it, astrology helped me give that event a new perspective; a perspective from which I could manage it more sensibly and powerfully. Plus, all transits come to an end even if it takes a long time. And there’s nothing more comforting than knowing that ‘this too shall pass’.

If you put planets in charge of your life, you have most likely put other people in charge of your life too.

Only you can live your life, no-one or nothing else can live it for you x.
